Very Fast Instant Read Thermometer

I was clued into this on reddit a couple days ago and figured for the price this was too much of a deal to pass up for a backup/loaner thermometer so I ordered it, worse case I'd just return it... I have been a happy ThermaPen user for almost a decade and I recently purchased a Mk4 because the wife accosted my original. The ThermoPro came in this afternoon and I took a moment to look it over and install the battery and give it a quick test against my current gear, I boiled a pot of water, threw some ice and water in a cup and did a few quick tests. All of them read pretty fast, I'd say that the bigger the delta the longer each took, which was impressive to say the least. I noticed that the ThermoPro was about a degree high on average but I'm under the impression this can be calibrated out... (Something I'm way to lazy to do over 1 degree) As far as build quality goes, The ThermoPro is decent, I see a lot of queues from the ThermaPen paired back. Its clearly built to a price point but it doesn't feel poorly made... The only big gripe I saw out of the gate was that they chose to have the battery cover screw thread straight into the plastic case which will probably be the weakest link in the whole thing. The choice of a red segmented display on a black background makes for a nice balance between readability and not needing a backlit display... Without going all AvE on the thing I'll just say that for the money, I'm not complaining I have definitely paid more for a lot worse... Overall, I'm pretty impressed, I might be a bit more hesitant if I was participating in bbq comps or cooking in a restaurant but for a home gamer I have already recommended this to two friends and I'll be keeping this one around. I think for the money this is easily a home run and dont hesitate to give it 5 Stars

Amazing, Fast, and Accurate

The ThermoPro TP19 is an amazing instant read thermometer. This company has not disappointed me yet. I also have their TP-08S wireless grill and meat probe thermometer. This particular instant read thermometer gives a faster reading, approximately 2-3 seconds, than any other "instant read" thermometer I own. I also have a Weber instant read, which takes approximately 10-11 seconds to give me an accurate reading. I tested the ThermoPro TP19 and Weber instant read going from the body temperature of my hand, 86 degrees, to a cup of ice cold water, and the TP19 had a reading of 32 degrees in 2 seconds flat, whereas my Weber instant read took 10 seconds to give me a reading of 32 degrees. Furthermore, the price of the TP19 cannot be beat! ThermoWorks offers that Thermapen Mk4 for $140. Anyone willing to spend that much money on a thermometer is a complete fool. It's just a thermometer for checking the temperature of meat. No thermometer is worth that much money. ThermoWorks is a ridiculous company with clever marketing looking to empty the wallets of their consumers for a product no better than that of the ThermoPro TP19. ThermoPro has amazing products, and I will always look to them for an honestly priced piece of grilling equipment that I know will perform to my standards. If you are serious about grilling, and want a great product that won't break the bank, look no further than ThermoPro. I am so happy I made this purchase.

Well designed & simple to use

Oh, over the years I've had this and that BBQ thermometers.....even one that cost over $100. All without a back-light! Until now!. This unit is very simple to operate, just insert a AA battery, swing open the probe, and the unit comes to life! Very accurate: I tested this probe along side at-home lab thermometer probes....right there with the big-boys, save a 'lil error. When tested against the $100 version, right on the money. Done. The only button, is used for holding the temp so that you can get a better visual....the display is large & bright enough, that frankly you will probably never have to use the hold feature. This is the "one," folks!

Wonderful thermometer for the $$

I really do like this thing! My old BBQ thermometer was a Weber brand from Walmart. While it was fairly accurate, it took upwards of 10-15 seconds to settle on the temp. The display was small and hard to read. The TP19 is TOTALLY opposite. The readings are very accurate and FAST, about 1-2 seconds to settle on a temp. I love that I can actually read it too! Probably the best thing about it though is the fact that I can wash it off! There might be others out there that are better, but for the money, you can't beat this one!

great food thermometer

I have used this thermometer to cook meat on the grill to perfection. It instantly shows temperature inside the meat so there is no guesswork as to the doneness of the meat. There is also a bonus magnet on the back side so you can leave it on the grill frame to check temps multiple times. Easy on after pulling the probe out like a jack knife blade and it instantly turns on. If you need to calibrate it ,it looks easy enough with a switch inside the battery compartment and ice water. I am very happy with this purchase and look forward to getting much use from it.

Quick, Accurate display.

Used the probe today for a rib and chicken cook. Easy to use and accurate temperature display. Clean up was a snap. My older Thermopolis is now in my traveling BBQ knife bag.

Spend a little extra and buy this one.

I have used three different Thermocouple meat thermometers in the last year. The first one was a $80 Williams and Sonoma brand that fell into the sink. It was a great well-built Thermometer but expensive. Was very disappointed when water got into the readout and made it illegible. We went on Amazon and decided to try a cheaper model, the ThermoPro TP18 . And cheap it certainly was, in every aspect. Poorly built and felt cheap. It didn’t last more than about three months of barbecue duty before it quit working. Now we have purchased the ThermoPro TP19. The build quality is night and day better compared to the cheaper PT18. For the six or seven dollars difference it’s certainly worth the money. Time will tell how long it actually lasts, it seems to be very sturdy and of professionally quality. If it lays an egg down the road I will amend my review. The readout is bright and easy to see,, it does read fast as advertised. If I would’ve noticed this was a thermal pro I may not have bought it based on my past experience with a cheaper model. However I’m glad that I did.

Great Meat Thermometer

I have had a number of meat thermometers that took forever to reach the actual temperature. I had basically given up and resigned myself to the fact that I was going to have to spend $99.00 for a Thermapen Mk4 which is supposed to be the best thermometer on the market with the fastest temperature reading (advertised as 2-3 seconds). I saw this one on Amazon and it was advertised as having readings of 2-3 seconds and it was only $29.99 with free returns. So I figured that I would try one more before buying the Thermapen Mk4 and if it did not perform as advertised, I would return it. I have to say that the ThermoPro TP19 is amazing. It reaches the meat temperature in 2-3 seconds as advertised. I am glad I bought it and saved almost $70 over the more expensive thermometer. I liked it so well that I bought another one for my son for Father's Day. Buy one - you won't regret it!

Spot on accurate - why waste time with others

Spot on accurate. A delight to use. Have been using it now for over a month - four times with perfect results when cooking on my grill. I've tried other thermometers. THIS ONE WORKS and it gives an immediate read out. Great purchase. Highly recommended.

Hands-down the best I’ve ever owned.

The last instant read thermometer I bought was that little 2-piece set you’ve probably seen on Amazon- the one with a black one and a red one and a name you can’t pronounce. I bought this one to replace those, and when you compare this unit to those it’s almost like they were made in 2 different decades. This thing is super easy to see in any kind of light, from full sun burgers to midnight brisket. The display flips itself to display upright based on the way you’re holding it. It’s waterproof so I don’t have to worry if I leave it outside after s cook and it starts to rain (something that screwed up both the last instant read and the last wireless rigs I bought). Finally, this is the first “instant read” thermometer I’ve ever owned that comes anywhere close to giving you a reading “instantly”. I’ve had them take almost 10 seconds to give me a reading. This one takes around 3 at the most. Just a superior product all around.
