Emergency preparedness
A while ago I was thinking about how vulnerable I am if there should be an extended period of calamity, such as from a severe weather event, so I decided to lay in provisions for two people for a month, which equals two of these canisters. The shelf life is years, and, although I have't eaten any of these yet, reports are the meals are substantial and tasty. For the price, it's worth having this on hand, especially if you live in a place that floods, hurricanes, or earthquakes. Of course, if we get hit with a coronal mass ejection, we're toast anyway, but at least you won't go hungry for a month.

Excellent shelf life and product
As you can see in the pictures, the shelf life varies for different products, but it is still quite long. At the time I bought this product it had a manufacturing date of just 4 months ago, which is nothing considering most things will last 25 years or more. See pictures for more information.

Everyone needs a few of these
I live in a flood zone on the Ohio River, surrounded by smaller rivers. And yes it floods a lot here. I’ve also lived through two major ice storms. You never know if you’ll be stuck in your home, or for how long. Better save than sorry. The bucket fits nicely tucked in my storage room.

A great value for the quantity and taste of the product.
I opened this up to test out the food before I purchased any more, and I have to say, so far I am impressed. I very much enjoyed what I have I tried so far. Been using the water bottle, and it does that job pretty well. One fire starter will not get you through the month, but it will let you make that first fire and you can create char cloth from that if you really need to... it is more of a bonus than a key feature of the kit. The bucket comes packed with food... Everything is packed in 6-15 serving sized vacuum packed bags. I cannot get everything to fit back in... even after eating 3 of the bags worth of food. The meals provided really are more of a side dish type items... so while it can serve as a month worth of food, I find the real value is as a base to build around. It seems to be pretty easy to find this for around $100 including shipping... so the price for this much food would be pretty hard to beat. Potato Soup: Very good. I added salt and pepper. The potatoes do separate from the rest of the soup mix in the bag, so you do have to mix it up before cooking if you are making less than the 6 servings that each bag contains. You get 5 bags. Macaroni and Cheese: I also liked that. Also added salt and pepper... but I like salty food. Cheese powder and Macaroni come separated. You get 4 bags of macaroni. Each contain 7.5 servings. The cheese comes in 2 bags with 15 servings each. Bags are not resealable. Benefit of the separation on noodles and cheese is that you control how much cheese you want in the dish. Also, as both the pasta and the cheese can easily be used in other types of dishes, you are able to do so without being forced to make just Mac & Cheese. Morning Moo: It is not milk powder... there are other ingredients... but it basically tastes like powdered milk. If you have the option, it tastes better cold rather than room temp. You get 4 bags of 20 servings. I have not tried the other items, but I will list how many servings of everything that is included in the kit: Cheese (30 servings) Cheesy Broccoli Rice (30 servings) Creamy Potato Soup (30 servings) Creamy Chicken Rice (30 servings) Hearty Vegetable Blend (30 servings) Instant Potatoes (30 servings) Macaroni (30 servings) Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal (40 servings) Morning Moo Milk Mix (80 servings) Each bag also includes an oxygen absorber. I plan on taking several of the packets that I have not used yet and put it in my emergency bag. Just keep in mind that if you do the same, almost everything needs to be cooked, so this is only good if you have a pan and fire/heat access. The cooking instructions are printed on the back of each bag as well as on a flier included in the pack. The flier also includes a 30 and 45 day meal planner. I was so impressed at the value and taste so far, I ordered 3 more of these for actual storage.

As promised
Everything looks good, I do not want to open it and break the vacuum seal, so I am going to trust that when the Zombie Apocalypse hits, everything will be in there! After doing a lot of research I saw that this kit contains the most "calories" for your buck.

Great food! Great price! Highly suggested!
Very good product. I have picky eaters and this food received thumbs up from all kids. Great knowing we are prepared for 20 years and even better knowing that my family will enjoy these meals. I know in the even of an emergency everything will be chaotic so a nice soothing comfort meal will be fantastic. Highly recommend!

Good product
I've tryed all the top selling bucket foods. This brand is just as good as the rest of them, at a faaaar less cost. The odds of ever needing these buckets of food are low, so it's my opinion to buy a coat effective product just in case. I can't see paying 3 times the amout for a more popular brand of food you'll most likely never use. Good luck and buy smart

It's a great value. Update July 14, 2017. The local Des Moines Sam's club is selling these for $30.
Update August 3, 2017 I really had not paid much attention to this, but the bucket being shipped now is a larger bucket than what this package used to come in. I had an old empty bucket out and noticed the difference. (I use the buckets for storage.) The previous buckets from this company were 5 gallon buckets. This is a 7 gallon bucket. And like before, it is packed to the top and squeezed under the lid. Augason Farm foods are the basics, without a lot of frills. They have some things which tastes great, and others which I can pass on. It's a matter of taste. For tastes and ease of preparation, I prefer the Mountain House brand. But for basic good food for the buck ($$$$), this is the best deal. Their "Morning Moo's" is the best powdered milk that I have ever tasted. So my money seems to go to these guys here on Amazon. Previous review below: --------------------------------------------- I figured that it was time to re-order one of these buckets. I am in the process of finishing off a bucket that I opened about 4 years ago. You can buy this bucket in Sam’s Club, but I like having it delivered to my door. Plus I think it is slightly more expense at Sam’s Club. The food is basic, but very good. The powdered milk in these buckets is the best powered milk that I have ever had in my life. I normally hate powdered milk, but I like this. It does not have that typical powdered milk taste. I made some “Hearty Vegetables” tonight. It’s basically macaroni, rice, carrots, lentils, and I am not sure what else. It tastes good, as if it just came from a garden. One of the ingredients in it still seems slightly dried out even after being cooked. I am not sure which one. But I add butter, slat, and pepper to it and it tastes fine. I had some “Chicken and Rice” from the bucket last night. This probably takes longer to cook, more then anything else in the bucket. One down side, or up-side, depending on your point of view. The food here is seriously dried, with ALL moisture removed from the food in this bucket. You can’t just add hot water to any of this, except the milk. You really do have to cook it for awhile in boiling water before the food will soften up. This is great for preserving it. But it also taxes your patience while you are waiting for it to be done. The food will definitely fill you up. No questions there. Like all of these dried survival foods, there are somethings that you like better than others. One thing about it, if you are traveling or without access to refrigeration, this is the way to go. I don’t know about the 30 day part since my last bucket has lasted me 4 years. But I just pull something out of it occasionally, and when I happen to even think about it. But I have met people who buy these buckets on a regular basis to feed their families. I remember meeting a guy wheeling 10 of these buckets out to his car at Sam’s Club. And these buckets was all that he had purchased. I am uploading photos of my “Hearty Vegetables” and milk for my meal tonight, from my 4 year old bucket. Update July 145, 2017 The local Sam's Club appears to be dropping these. The local Des Moines Sam's Club is currently selling their in-stock buckets for $30.

Buy it just in case, because you never know. Lasts something like 30yrs. I can definitely live with that. I encourage you to open it and try it as I did. Food it great, better than expected. I bought an extra one and now we have a two week supply for my family of four. Make sure you also keep water on hand for this as you must add water to the food.
