Fun game, DLC code included
This is a really fun game, mainly because swinging around New York as Spider-Man feels amazing. It's easy to pick up and satisfying to master. Combat is pretty challenging. Stealth sections are a bit boring. Getting 100% completion of the game also gets repetitive particularly when you are trying to complete the crimes part, but that's forgivable. The game also has great graphics and a wonderful story. They really nailed the personalities of the characters. This version comes with a code to download three DLC story missions. They're quite good and add new enemies and challenges. On a technical note, when you insert this game's disc, the installation is pretty lengthy. Just so you know. Overall, I recommend this game to any superhero fan.

A Beaut of a Game!!!
Well paced, well written, well made. Only suffered one glitch whilst playing. Had a blast overall, it really brought a nostalgic feeling to the fore of my mind when it came to the swinging mechanics, very similar in essence to “Spider-man 2”, yet at the same time much better!! 10 out of 10, would play again and I damn well recommend.

Great game, great price!
My son already got the original edition last Christmas and loved it, easily one of his favorite games of the year. ...I can see why they now released an actual "Game of the Year" edition. The game itself has wonderful graphics and a good story line; I know my son will be so surprised this Christmas to see they've re-released it. I had no clue and I'm sure neither does he, just saw it randomly and got it cheaper than Black Friday pricing so, had to get it. I know after beating the game his interest waned a bit and he plays it less often, but this gift should be a nice surprise to him that reignites interest since it was one of his favorites originally.

The value is worth it for GOTY Edition
Do you know how hard it is to wait buying a game you're certain you'll love? Welcome to my world. Spider-Man is one of my favorite Marvel characters so I've been waiting for a next gen console game to feature him. What we got with this game was an amazing, pun intended, experience =) The voice acting is superb. Every main character is fleshed out well and we get a real sense of their motivations throughout the main story. Most of the character rendering was surreal. I thought Rutger Hauer played Norman Osborn, but it turned out to be Boggs from Shawshank! The combat is very Batman-esque. That's not a bad thing! There is stealth involved, as well as an array of gadgets at Spidey's disposal. Mostly, I got a lot of button mashing thrills from just diving in to combat. The slow motion shots are incredible! I would point out that some missions require a touch more than button mashing. Travel is the highlight. Web-slinging around New York City was one of my favorite parts. While you are able to use the subway system to "teleport" to different areas, you can see the sites and swing there. My only gripe with web-slinging was sometimes, especially during the pigeon challenges and Taskmaster challenges, it was difficult rapidly changing directions. Going in a straight line = great. Story wise I was super happy with how the developers told their tale. My favorite were the first DLC Black Cat missions. The way she works Spider-Man had me yelling at the screen lol! It seems as though every video game developer is doing the same thing- coming out with the main game, then adding extra content later on that costs as much as the original game. Inevitably, we get a Game of the Year edition with all the extra content at a fraction of the price. That's why I waited. The product itself is a physical disk for the main game and codes for all the DLC. Some reviewers seemed super upset that all of the content was not available on the disk. I don't mind at all- I have plenty of space on my PS4Pro. If you're good with that, this game is well worth the price and is tons of fun.

This game is AMAZING!
This was the first PS4 game I ever played, and I have to say that as someone who'd only played an Xbox One and Nintendo Switch before, I was really, really blown away. It almost feels like I'm playing a next-gen console compared to my experiences on Xbox and Switch! The fluidity of the movement and the quality of the graphics are just amazing. In terms of the content, I haven't finished the game yet, but the main story has me interested and is a lot of fun. Most of the side quests are kind of stupid and laughably easy, but I found the combat to be really tough at first. I don't know, maybe it's just because I'm not a huge gamer or something, but whatever the reason, it took me a little while to get the hang of. Once I did, though, I really started having a blast! Even 15-20 hours in, I still find myself stopping in the middle of the game sometimes thinking, "Wow. Just... wow." At the current ~$20 price tag, it's an absolute steal. Get it!

Felt like Spider-man 4 and the next Arkham game is going to have to bring it.
Man this game was amazing and proves that they could have stuck with Sam Raimi Spider-man. I really enjoyed the Raimi Costume and with some of the music almost sounding like the score from old, this felt like Spider-man 4. The story was really good and the gameplay was really smooth. They raised the bar far as open world superhero games. Batman Arkham games are going to have to step their game up if they do in fact make a sequel. Spider-man open world feels like a living and breathing city. It has citizens that walk the streets and that's the one thing that was missing from the Arkham games. There lack of public filled streets made it felt kind of like a dead city. Even the last Arkham game it was a plot used as an excuse to get rid of almost all the citizens and I think that was a waste. You had this really big city that was really empty outside the villain's. When Spider-man starts swinging you really feel like Spider-man they really did a great job in the web slinging mechanics. I'm so glad it had nothing to do with the Disney Spider-man films that are out now and that it is it's own thing.

Great game
Very fun, a lot of different suits you can wear each provide a different power up, open world looks amazing. Think it’s been awhile since a open world spider-man has been made and given back then it was good for what was available for technology and what’s out their now for technology is way better. Anyways they did a amazing job with this game, graphics are like watching a movie when they have the cut scenes, only thing I personally don’t like are the times you gotta be sneaky as MJ and Miles which is why I no longer play assassins creed games as they have certain parts of the story that you can’t be caught or you have to restart from last checkpoint in that mission. I more of like me try and be sneaky and if it fails I just kick everyone’s butt.

Lots of high hopes for this one... fulfilled!
EDIT at the bottom. I’m a huge Spider-Man fan, and I’m expecting a lot from this game. I’m aware of the controversy of the “game of the year edition”, but since I didn’t previously owned the basic version, I thought, “what the hell!”. It was on a huge discount (more than 50% or so). And I’m also aware that the extra DLC’s (I haven’t tried to claim them yet) might not work for me because of my region... I live in Colombia, but hey, even if they don’t end up working, I can still say that I got the basic version with a 50%+ discount, so I’ll just enjoy the hell out of it. * EDIT: I finally had the time to play it... and it's AMAZING (just like Spidey). I also tried the code for the extra DLC's... And they worked! I now have the 3 extra missions too. So I can say that this is truly the "Game of the Year Edition" for me!!!

Fun game great web slinging
I have not finished the game yet about half way done but having a lot of fun as Spidey roaming the city and kicking butt on bad guys . The web slinging is really good in this game I would say the best ever in any Spiderman game and the combat is about the same as most of them but with a bunch of crazy gadgets sometimes I think I'm Batman lol and I'm still unlocking stuff and more combat moves so it should just keep getting better . Campaign seems to be lasting a while mainly because I spend so much time distracted by every gang event I see and then they have a bunch of bonus content I have not even touched yet so this game seems like it will be lasting a long time . I think what also makes this a great game is the voice acting and humor I find myself constantly laughing that Spiderman and Jameson's line's very well done even the cut scenes they show when you fast travel the sub way are varied and funny , well done all the way with the presentation . Also lots of costumes to unlock with crazy abilities on them that you can swap out on any costume you choose to wear. This is the game I bought my PS4 for I am really satisfied with it as a life long fan of Spiderman

Game of the Year
Spider-Man won Game of the Year for a reason. Fantastic game. Lots of side missions that emerge as you make your way through the main campaign, keeps things exciting and allows you to pace your own progress through the game. The scientific puzzles/missions are fun and add value to the game as opposed to existing as solely filler tasks. Great story with some interesting twists on old relationships and new enemies. Suits, skills, gadgets, and suit powers are easy to use and can be upgraded with points earned through normal game play - no hidden 'pay to play' features. Web swinging is pure joy. Looking forward to replaying at higher difficulty!
