Good digital thermometer

If there is anything this pandemic has shown is that you need to have a thermometer in your home to make sure you can identify the symptoms early and keep others safe. Following similar guidelines, I am required to take my temperature twice daily, once before going to work and once prior to returning so I can keep my coworkers and loved ones safe. Sticking a mercury thermometer in my mouth was getting cumbersome so I looked for a thermometer on amazon and ordered it. The other reviewer already explained the technology which was helpful but I compared the reading to my mercury thermometer. The reading is consistently .5-.8 below my mercury thermometer, but that’s OK. Cause if I didn’t take the mercury thermometer temp from my mouth but used it from under my armpit, they matched. Upon further reading (the user guide for another digital mouth thermometer I have, under armpit temp expectancy is +/- 1 degree F. I marked my baseline and I’ll go from there. Will it take the temp if you don’t touch the forehead? Yes. Is it more accurate if you let it touch your forehead- probably. The readings were off by .2-.5 depending on the person/room I tried this on Happy with the overall purchase.

IMPORTANT - MUST READ

This thermometer was thoroughly tested against our previously owned contactless thermometer. The package includes: thermometer, batteries, instruction manual, quick start guide, and soft storage bag. Battery installation was easy. To use as an in-ear thermometer, just pop the cap off the sensor (as shown in the photos). This has accurate temperatures and is within 0.3°F of the contactless thermometer every single time. The in-ear temperature does run about 1° hotter. IMPORTANT - I saw a lot of angry reviewers that were upset that this is not a contactless thermometer. I don't know if the description was changed, but I didn't see anywhere that said it was contactless. If you are buying this for your family, like I did, you don't need to worry about it being contactless. You are sharing a home already, so a plastic piece the size of a quarter touching your forehead isn't going to hurt you. With that being said, do not follow the instructions for the forehead temp. It says you have to place the thermometer on the forehead and then hold the button while moving the thermometer across the forehead to the temple. Don't do this. The thermometer doesn't even function at all in this way. Just simply place the sensor on the forehead and press the button once. It reads the temp in one second. DO read the instructions for the ear temp. You must pull the ear up to allow the ear canal to straighten. If you don't do this, the temp will be inaccurate.

An absolute Must!!

Easy to hold, not bulky, like some thermometers are. I got my regular digital thermometer out to compare it to, and it was right on! Now days these are a must for everyone. It's always handy to have several on hand just in case one stops working. I'm so glad I made this purchase. One second reading is awesome!!!

Quick Multi-Function Thermometer

In the time of COVID, it is critical that you stay safe and protect others. The responsible thing (and often required) is that you take your temperature before going to work, school or camp. So, I wanted to have small compact thermometer to be able to use each morning. This device seems to take consistent and accurate temperatures. The cool part is that there are multiple modes: 1) Ear (top comes off to reveal ear probe) 2) Forehead swipe (note this needs to touch your forehead and you have to hold down the power button - start at center and swipe right or left) 3) Infrared - You can point the device at an object - hot water, bottle, etc and hold down M button for three seconds and then point it at the device you want to measure the temp of. Only real negative is that you can't use the infrared on people which is what I assumed you could do.

A convenient invention!

This thermometer is awesome. I had the exergen thermometer, which is forehead readings only, but it broke after just 2 years; I bought this thermometer to replace it. My review compares the two products... I have two young children, one hates having his temperature on his head and the other hates having things stuck in their ear. I thought I’d need two thermometers to accommodate my oddly particular children, but this serves both. Super easy to use - there’s a cap that pops off to expose the ear thermometer, or the cap on for forehead readings. I was a little nervous about accuracy, since that seemed to be the only complaint in other reviews. The exergen never gave me the same reading twice, so precise readings is not my expectation. After 4 different tests, all 3 readings (ear, forehead, infrared) were within .5 degrees of each other. So maybe not 100% accurate but it does the job on telling me whether my child has a fever or not. The screen is big (much bigger than exergen), backlit, and easy to read. I love that the battery compartment is easy to access, unlike exergen - I’d break a nail almost every time I had to change batteries. The only concern is it doesn’t feel as durable (heavy) as the exergen thermometer, so I am worried about how it will hold up if I were to drop it, but so far it seems like a great buy. Overall, I prefer this to the exergen thermometer - But I’ll update my review if it doesn’t hold up as long.

Does what I expect it to

Overall this is a nice thermometer. It’s a good value compared to many other infrared thermometers on the market. Personally I don’t find ANY infrared thermometers to be exceptionally accurate. I have them simply to get an approximate temp quickly. Forehead will usually be about 1/2 to 1 full degree lower than oral while a reading from the ear will generally be 1/2 to 1 full degree higher than oral. That’s ALL thermometers using those contact points. That being said, this thermometer falls within those parameters and does what I expect it to. Give a quick reading. I’m satisfied with this device.

Compact and quick!

Love this product. Easy to use and gives you options for either ear or forehead readings. Very accurate on temperatures. Comes with batteries and storage bag too! Great to have during this pandemic. Small enough to carry in your purse.

Another must have tool for a medical kit.

Although I do Keep another thermometer in my medical bad I feel its better to have two just in case something happens to one of them. Easy to use just put the end in the center of the forehead and push and hold the button while you move it slowly to the temple and release the button. You get your reading very fast. I have check the temperature with two other thermometers I have and the readings on average are +-0.2°F. So in my opinion this thermometer is very accurate despite my expectations for these forehead thermometers. I have not used the ear part of this thermometer and I don't think I ever will. If you do they recommend you to clean it right away with some isoproply alcohol and a q-tip. Be careful Not to run it under water as for this is not waterproof and you may damage it. It would be nice if they would make some disposable covers to keep the ear part clean during use. You can also use the thermometer to take reading of other things around the house Like a no contact temperature gun. This may be useful for some people. Comes with a nice cloth storage bag and batteries also!

Very easy to use works great!

With whats been going on in this world right now , wanted to make sure I had a reliable thermometer to use for me and my family, especially one that doesn't need to go in your mouth. I love that it can be used 3 ways, either touching it to your forehead and sliding it towards your temple or even holding it away from your skin and doing the same, which also lets you get the temperature of other things as well. Then you can also remove the cap and use it in your ear to take your temperature that way. Obviously the results will vary depending on which method you use, but generally not by much. I of course had to compare it to my regular thermometer and the results were just about the same. I use mine daily to check my temperature before i leave the house to go shopping and to the gym or Doctors office just in case with whats going on these days, especially since they take your temp just about anywhere you go, especially at the gym, so if I have a temperature i would like to know in advance . I would highly recommend this product, it was an excellent value for the price.

Good thermometer for my daughter at college

Since my daughter is moving into a dorm, I wanted her to be able to check her temperature a little bit more regularly due to everything that's going on. I did not want the gun style, as she has never been a big fan of guns. This one was perfect because it looks more like a wand. You do have to either put this on your skin, or 2 or 3 cm away. It is not like some of the other ones that you can hold it way far away. quite frankly, for measuring your own temperature, that's not a big deal. Plus, if she wants to register her roommate's temperature, she could just wipe it off with a rubbing alcohol pad or something. Very easy to use, easy to read, and came even with a nice little case. She is happy, so I am happy.
