I need a microscope for my biology class this year (home school). I searched for a long time, tried to find a cheap and perfect one. I have been very pleased with this microscope. It has all the adjustments, eye pieces and zoom levels as the more expensive ones. It even comes with some sample slides and some blank slides. Phone adapter also helps record different cells I have seen.

So much fun!!!

It works really great! Once I recieved it, I can't wait to try it. I used WF10 with 4X objective lens to find them all. You have to be patient at first time, I spent some time to adjust the light and lens. I'm so glad that I find out clearly finally. In addition, phone adapter is quit tight, so I used my old iphone 6 to take pictures that better than iphone plus. Hope manufacturer and update the adapter for new phone. Excellent microscope for beginners! I will recommend to my friends!!!

Great to use

Iā€™m a college student and I got this for a physics science major. I have been looking for a while and chose this finally. This one was perfect for me, and it does come with a few slides that are already prepped. I'm glad to get a bunch of blank slides for making yourself, this is my favorite part. Works well. It also has an attachment for phone so I can take a photo of what youā€™re studying.

Glad I chose battery power!

Perfect for the home school! I was worried about getting the battery powered one, but so glad I did! We use it on the go when we do our "nature classroom" in the park during our picnics.

My niece loves it

When I was looking for something to help my niece now that she is being home schooled I came across this. It is really is perfect for home schooling. She enjoys it so much she is even trying her own little experiments with it.

Great way to get started in Science and the micro world observations

It comes with 3 different eye pieces for different magnifications. The light switch is a three-way position for illumination above the subject being seen, below the subject being seen, and the middle position is off. It comes with sample slides of housefly legs, stem of cotton, epidermis onion, pine mature wood, and stem of wood dicotyledon X.S. It also comes with additional clear slides so you can for example pinch your sample between two slides. Shaving wafer thin samples is important when using the illumination from below. Focusing is very exact. There is a board range of movement and fine tuning is required to bring the subject into focus. It is easiest to start with the lowest magnification at 10x and the objective at 4x dial it in for clarity and then you can use higher lenses for more magnification. I must admit I am not a microscope expert, and I found this fascinating to use. This unit is large and substantial enough to do an accurate job, and yet small enough to make it practical. This is a great starter microscope for students and good to have as a household item for family members who want to get their feet wet. Within a short period of time learning the basics will prepare you for learning a wide array of techniques. It is substantially made. It is not a lightweight unit, and isnā€™t flimsy at all.

One step up from the 'Little Kid's Microscope Kit'... suitable for pre-teens and up...

The KiZHLxo monocular 40 power thru 1600 power microscope is one step above the 40 thru 800 power all plastic microscope for children that Iā€™ve also reviewed, and the same scope sitting side by side with this microscope. The larger scope reviewed here is also an introductory instrument kit, but for pre-teens 11 or 12, and also middle and high school aged teens. The vendorā€™s smaller kit is most definitely for 5 thru 8 or maybe 10 year olds. And as an introductory kit, both are well fitted for their age groups. This scope is larger, heavier (while still being primarily plastic), and has a Barlow Lens of 2-power that boosts the magnification from 800 to 1600. As you can see from my video, this larger scope has all the items shown on the table, PLUS... this larger scope utilizes a 2-power Barlow Lens that boosts the magnification from 800, as in the smaller kid's scope, to 1600 power. Both models serve their purpose as introductory instruments. With this kit having a price point of $84, I did an open market search online for similar microscope kits. I did find similar product but at a slightly higher price; about $90. So from a cost standpoint, this kit appears to be very fairly price. Include the Amazon and Amazon Prime benefits, and it makes sense to purchase from Amazon. The 40-1600 power KiZHLxo scope is a rather complete kit. As youā€™ll see in my video, you do get just about everything someone would use in a laboratory, only all in plastic and of a quality commensurate with a ā€˜beginnerā€™s kitā€™ ($84.00). While it does look, from a distance, as a true laboratory with a cast metal frame, itā€™s more a heavy molded and textured finish plastic. It does look good. And as features go, it has a triple turret objective lens set that might be metal. But regardless, it is the next step up from the kidā€™s kit I also reviewed in the video. I could see my 12 year old granddaughter using this kit in middle school and high school to view pond water; observing paramecium, amoebas and other micro-sized life forms. And that would certain be a good thing as itā€™s an introduction to the life sciences. In my video youā€™ll see all the accessories laid out on the table. And within the video I was able to share some features and opinions with the microscope in-hand. My expectations were met for what this it; a young childā€™s introduction to the science of the micro-world.

Pretty cool to see small cells

I got this microscope for two of my kid cousins who are both in school and needed one at home since all schools in NYC are closed. I tested it out before handing it off to them being the curious person that I am, and I actually enjoyed it myself ā€“ it's very cool to be able to see so many small cells - plant and different types of bacteria! I didn't really read the instructions thoroughly but the microscope was self explanatory and easy to use right out of the box. It brought me back to my middle- and high-school days in science class! The microscope came in a single piece with accompanying accessories packaged well so no fear of it moving around/breaking during shipment. Instruction provided were fairly clear and the microscope is easy to use after some adjustments - make sure you adjust it carefully/fine-tune it or you won't be able to see anything and everything will be blurry. It can magnify up to 1000x so I was able to see cells move. The microscope's price is also fairly inexpensive so it didn't break the bank for me and will keep my two cousins happy. Not much else to say about this product except that in conclusion, it works as intended. Hope my cousins ace their science classes thanks to their thoughtful and cool uncle ;)
