I purchased this Ram-Pro In- Line Spark Plug Engine Ignition, simply put, for the exact reason it`s advertised for. I put it between the spark plug and plug wire instead of pulling the spark plug every time. This tells me if the points or electronic ignition is functioning. Or if I need to check the spark plug. I`ve read some reviews that were not so good. So far I don`t agree with them. The length hasn`t been an issue for me so far. (And the best part is, you can make it longer), with a piece of plug wire 7 or 8 mm for the deep spark plugs in the valve covers. Or for the spark plugs hidden in the back of the engines. The manufacturer could even add some extra length wire in the package. And one more thing. The light in this tester could be brighter when testing the spark plug, unscrewed from the head. Most cases that dosen`t need to happen. I`m happy with this tester.

The tester arrived when promised and appears to be as advertised. I tested it on my lawnmower and it seems to work well. I bought it specifically to test for spark on a leaf blower that wasn't working. The mechanics of pull starting a leaf blower makes it difficult to pull the rope and watch a tester, all while trying to keep the blower from jumping around too much while pulling the rope. The only potential issue I see is that the probe that inserts into the boot from the engine isn't (or at least wasn't in this case) a snug fit, causing you to question whether the lack of spark is from a faulty ignition component or a bad connection with the tester, In the case of a small, light, handheld pull start implement, it'd probably be best to have the assistance of a second person to perform this test.

Simple product to use if you just want to see if you are getting electricity to the spark plug. I was thinking that you need to two people to use this because you need someone to crank the motor and another to see if the tester lit up. While you don't. All you need is your phone or camera with video function. I set up my phone, hit record, cranked the motor (my mower wasn't starting) and then reviewed the video. Now I can check off power to the spark plug.

Works great! I had a power washer that did not start anymore and I tried about everything I could find on youtube and what the manufacturer suggested. While I had replaced the spark plug I wanted to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with actually getting the spark plug to spark. This inexpensive tool did exactly that. Make sure that you check it in a shaded area and not direct sunlight or it will be hard to see. Basically, you just see a relative faint orange light when the spark plug works. Also make sure that the spark plug is actually inserted or at least is touching ground. Basically, this tester is just inserted between the spark plug and the installed spark plug cable.

So far I have used this device about 7 to 8 times. This morning my neighbor's party barge was running rough, thanks to this device I discovered he had a bad spark plug. A quick trip to the auto parts store for two new spark plugs and for less than $6 we had the motor running like new. I knew it was the spark plug because we had spark to the plug but the plug was not firing. If you go to a marine dealer that would have cost at least one hours labor and no telling how much they would have charged for the plugs. Around here labor cost is $75 with a one-hour minimum plus parts. Within less than one hour and the motor was fixed including the trip to the auto parts store. Many $$$$'s saved.

Just what I needed to finally determine that the magneto assembly on my Ryobi leaf blower had failed. It was quite evident to me when I had spark and when I didn't, but if you want to know what it looks like I recommend first attaching it to something that works. I put it on my weedeater just to see what the flashing light looked like when there was certain spark and then went from there. Not bad at all for 7 bucks and change!

Great for small engines. Not only can the engine still run while the tool is installed in-line, the light will be noticibly brighter or dimmer depending on the electrical strength - making it easier to diagnose potential problems up stream. Overall, the wires are well insulated, it fits snugly to the connectors, and the light is bright enough to see during daylight hours. It performs just as well as more expensive models.

This little spark plug tester was shipped on time and arrived as advertised. It has already paid for itself by helping me diagnose a problem with my lawnmower. I was able to ID the spark plug as the problem immediately. The usual method of grounding the plug and watching for the spark can be difficult when working on a pull start mower that has the plug on the front. How can you watch for the spark around the front of the mower? This tester allowed me to save time and money. I would recommend this product & seller.

Having problems starting my leaf blower. Replaced air filter, fuel filter, but still wont start. This little gadget was very helpful - now I know the issue is total lack of spark. Still not sure what has failed or how it happened, but at least now I'm on the right track to fixing it.

My mower was complaining that something wasn't quite right. A hesitation here, a misfire there was enough for me to invest a few bucks for a spark plug and this tool before I go disassembling old 'Sir Mows A Lot'. I plugged this in and pulled the cord. This flickering beauty let me know that the magneto was fully operational. Needless to say...I was very happy that it worked great...now, carburetor rebuild time. :(
